When working with our clients to improve and grow their businesses, we go through a three stage process:

  • Formulation
  • Education
  • Implementation

Stage 1, Formulation, is all about developing a route map of how you are going to achieve the business success that you desire. That sounds simple, but in fact achieving this first step is far from easy. Do you have a really clear vision of what success is to you? Do you know how will your business look when it’s finished? And when will that be?

One of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” as described by Steven R. Covey, is to Begin with the End in Mind. This just means thinking about what it really is you want yourself and your business to be, in other words, what is your dream? If you have a really clear vision of the future, and keep this vision in focus, it will help you to ensure that every step you take leads you closer to that vision.

The physical creation of something follows the mental creation, just as a building follows a blueprint. To Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, each week, each project or each task you undertake with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by ensuring the strategies you chose to achieve your goals are moving you towards your ultimate dream.

“Nothing happens unless first a dream.” – Carl Sandberg

This route map may cover several years so needs to be broken down into manageable projects, tasks or goals. We work with our clients to produce 90 Day Plans that set the priorities and identify the strategies needed to achieve the goals for the coming quarter.

Having your clear vision of your end point in mind will mean that you will be able to adjust your route map to deal with changes or obstructions that arise from day to day without having to change your destination.
